with only an inconspicuous oval sign, and visitors must step
down, below street level, in order to locate the door.
The names of the dishes roll across the tongue like ripe
black olives: Carpaccio di Tonno. Ribollita Toscana.
Sformato di Zucchine. And the flavors? Like little time
bombs, set to shower the palate with truffle oil, fresh
herbs, and savory reductions. Osteria di Valerio & Al is an
intimate little restaurant, where the authentic flavors of
the Piedmont are woven
into sophisticated, contemporary dishes. Those interested in
a slice of pizza pie need not apply. But for those pursuing
a slice of culinary paradise, your table is waiting.

" Hello, I am Manolo Torres, some people call me Manny. I am
the principle owner of Mallorca in Cleveland. Mallorca is a
restaurant of good times. It's story started in New Jersey.
For many years the Spanish and Portuguese brought their
culture and tradition to New York and New Jersey. Mallorca
is now bringing those traditions to Ohio and Pennsylvania. I
started my career as a waiter in Spain. I then moved to New
Jersey, where I worked in the restaurant business until I
was offered a position in
Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. It is there where I met my wife,
Laurie, and we started our family. We then decided to take a
chance and open a restaurant in Cleveland. My family and I
are very happy to be here and hope to stay a very long time.

Hiroshi Tsuji previously owned Shujiro, one of Cleveland's top-rated
restaurant, and he's keeping up the tradition at this
"stylish" Japanese serving "excellent sushi" - be sure to
book - most nights it's packed and "noisy". The first thing
guests spot when they enter Shuhei is the big, beautiful
sushi bar, backed up by a small army of bustling sushi
chefs. As you would expect, an excellent variety of maki and
nigiri sushi is the star of the show here -- ordered à la
carte or in combinations as either appetizers or entrées.
Beyond sushi, diners can also select items from a large menu
of steaks, seafood, poultry, noodle, and vegetarian dishes.

this is a relaxed place. Expect the average entrée to cost
$12 to $20, and in general, people dress casual. When
weather permits, enjoy outdoor seating. Reminiscent of sunny
Crete with its airy white-stucco interior, this eye-catching
restaurant serves authentic, high-quality fare. Expect all
your Greek favorites, including excellent moussaka. The fish
is always fresh, and the ample combo

Bruce's Review - I didn't realize that the Chop House is
actually another one of the many local breweries popping up
in and around town. So initial impressions were "oh another
Diamond Back". The place has a real open feel with high wood
ceilings and rafters. Kinda noisy with wood floors, tables,
and chairs. There is a long bar that stretches the length of
one wall on the way in and most of the tables are in the
back.
The menu was fairly traditional with fish, steaks, and chops
as expected. All the meals were served with an all you can
eat tossed salad, brought to the table in a large bowl. The
salad was very fresh, cold, and delicious. I can't recall
the type of dressing the salad had on it, but it was
excellent. I ordered a herb grilled chicken with a side of
pasta and fresh steamed veggies. My partners had a broiled
fish dish and a peppered strip steak, both prepared to
perfection with garlic mashed potatoes. Service was top
shelf. Very attentive but not pretentious. We had a great
meal in a comfortable setting with cocktails, wine, salad
and main course for about $100 for three people. I look
forward to going back sometime soon. Try it.

Sophisticated and urbane, Marlin Kaplan's One Walnut

the food, that doesn't happen here. Instead, chef Matt
Gambatese's menu of big, rich flavors more than holds its
own, assisted by artful presentation and professional
service.

This University Circle restaurant bursts with Mondrian-ish
primary colors and festive South American flavors. Nothing
is too adventurous, so even timid palates will be pleased
with such choices as Brazilian-style beef tenderloin
(marinated in garlic, black pepper, and port). There's a
tropical-style patio for warm-weather dining and live
Brazilian jazz on occasion.
