A.W. Shuck's Seafood Warehouse Restaurant & Raw Bar
70 STATE STREET
CHARLESTON, S.C. 29401
TEL:(843) 723-1151
Location: Downtown
on The Market; south side near East Bay Street
In 1978, long before
Charleston became known as an international tourist
destination, A.W. Shuck’s opened on The Market. It
was a place for locals, where one could get a plate of fried
shrimp, a dozen raw oysters, or an ice cold pitcher of beer.
Just about any Charlestonian can tell you stories
about the early days of “Shuck’s.” Today, A. W. Shuck’s
serves some of the finest seafood in the city, all prepared
to please the demanding palates of the locals who insist on
the Shuck’s traditional style of Charleston seafood. There’s
the popular raw bar, of course, which serves pails of
steamed oysters year-round. Shuck’s also offers delicious
shrimp, scallop, crab, and oyster dishes, prepared just
about any way you like…the fresh fish specials are cause for
a major taste bud celebration…and the top-secret recipe for
our legendary Lowcountry Seafood Casserole brings locals
from miles around! A. W. Shuck’s has a saying: “When you’re
in the mood for real seafood…come get fresh with us!” It’s
good advice to anyone looking for good food and a good time.
Attire: Casual dress is welcome. Atmosphere: Relaxed,
upbeat.
